Terms of Service

Last updated: May 17, 2026

Acceptance of terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Arc mobile application for iOS ("App") and the website at meetarc.app ("Website"), collectively referred to as the "Service," operated by Arc ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, downloading the App, or using the Service in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Service availability

Arc is currently launching in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand only. We are not yet able to offer the Service to residents of the European Union, European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland, South Korea, or other regions. The Arc iOS app will not be listed in App Stores for those territories at launch.

If you complete a founding member purchase from a billing region we do not yet serve, we will issue a full refund and email you confirming the refund. In the rare case our automated refund process fails, we will process your refund manually within 1-2 business days. We will not store your member record, activate any subscription, or send your promo code. You are welcome to re-purchase once Arc is available in your region — we will announce expansion at meetarc.app.

See also our Privacy Policy for the waitlist re-confirmation process applicable to signups that pre-date this Service availability section.

Eligibility

Arc is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years of age. Arc verifies age during onboarding by asking for your date of birth; entering a date that indicates you are under 18 will end the onboarding flow and prevent Arc account creation on your device. Signing in with Apple creates a local sign-in session that typically persists until you sign out from inside the app, but may end automatically if the session expires or becomes invalid. If we learn that an account belongs to a user under 18, we will delete the account and associated data within 30 days. See also the Age requirement section of our Privacy Policy.

Account registration

To access certain features, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update it as necessary. Notify us immediately at support@meetarc.app if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

Account deletion

You may delete your account at any time from within the App by navigating to Settings > Account > Delete Account. You may also request account deletion by emailing privacy@meetarc.app. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed within 30 days in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Important: Deleting your account does not automatically cancel any active subscriptions. To stop future billing, you must cancel your subscription through your Apple ID settings (Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions) before deleting your account.

Subscriptions and payment

Arc offers auto-renewable subscription plans that provide access to premium features. The following terms apply to all subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store:

Pricing

Current subscription pricing is displayed on the subscription screen within the App and on the App Store product page before you confirm your purchase. Prices are in U.S. dollars and may vary by region based on App Store pricing.

Auto-renewal

Your subscription automatically renews unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the rate of your selected plan. You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time by going to your Apple ID account settings (Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions).

Free trials

If a free trial is offered, it will be clearly stated on the subscription screen. Any unused portion of a free trial will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription. At the end of the free trial, your subscription will automatically begin and your Apple ID account will be charged unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

Refunds

Payments are processed by Apple. To request a refund for an App Store subscription purchase, visit reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support. Arc does not process App Store refunds directly.

Founding member offer

Founding member purchases made through the website are processed by Stripe. The founding member offer includes a discounted first-year rate as described at the time of purchase.

Founding member refund window

For founding member purchases made on or after May 17, 2026: you may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked, by emailing support@meetarc.app. Refunds are processed back to the original payment method via Stripe within 7 business days.

Grandfathered terms for earlier founding members

Founding members who purchased on or before May 17, 2026 under the prior "Full refund if we don't launch by September 30, 2026" promise retain that right in addition to the 14-day window. If Arc has not launched on the App Store by September 30, 2026, eligible earlier founding members may request a full refund at any time after that date by emailing support@meetarc.app. "Launch" for this purpose means the Arc iOS app being available for download to the general public on the US App Store.

Story generation: fair use

Arc Pro grants you access to personalized story generation. To keep generation costs sustainable and prevent abuse, the following fair-use limit applies:

  • 15 stories per 30-day period. This is a generous ceiling relative to typical use; ordinary daily use will not approach it.
  • The 30-day window is calculated on a rolling basis from your most recent story request, not the calendar month.
  • Reaching the limit pauses generation until older requests fall outside the 30-day window. We will notify you in-app if you approach the limit.
  • The limit applies to AI-generated stories only. Pre-authored stories in the Arc library are not counted toward the cap.

We may adjust the limit (up or down) with at least 30 days' written notice via in-app notification or email if usage patterns or generation costs change materially. We will not retroactively reduce access already granted within the current 30-day window. If we materially reduce the limit during your active subscription, you may cancel and request a prorated refund for the unused portion of your current billing period by contacting support@meetarc.app.

Cancellation and expiration

Arc Pro is an auto-renewing subscription. Apple manages billing, renewal, and cancellation through your Apple ID. To cancel, use Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad.

Cancellation and expiration are different events:

  • Cancellation stops the auto-renewal of your subscription. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
  • Expiration is the end of your billing period after cancellation, or the failure of a renewal charge. Access ends at expiration, not at cancellation.

If you cancel, you will not be charged again, but you will continue to have full Arc Pro access until your current period ends. We do not pro-rate refunds for unused time after cancellation.

Subscription state and server-side mirror

To deliver your subscription benefits reliably, Arc maintains a server-side record of your subscription status, refreshed periodically from Apple via our subscription processor (RevenueCat). This record is used solely to determine which features you can access. It contains your subscription tier, status (active or expired), and renewal date — no payment information.

If you cancel, your server-side record is updated when the next status check runs (typically within 5 minutes). If you delete your account, all subscription records on our side are deleted. Apple's billing records remain with Apple.

AI-generated content

Arc's stories are authored with the assistance of artificial intelligence powered by Anthropic's language model (a third-party AI service). The full life-stage and content disclosure — including the current build-time vs. future runtime processing distinction — lives in our Privacy Policy; this section covers the contractual side.

Current state of AI processing

At this time, the AI processing that produces Arc's content occurs at build time: we generate a library of seed stories using Anthropic, narrate them with a third-party voice service, and store the resulting audio files on our infrastructure. The iOS app fetches those pre-generated audio files at runtime. During normal app use today, your personal data is not sent to Anthropic or any other third-party AI service; the App selects from the pre-generated library based on your goals and life-phase context locally on your device. The subsections below describe both the rules that apply today and the additional rules that will apply when runtime AI generation features ship in a future Arc release.

Nature of AI content

AI-generated content (whether pre-generated at build time or generated at runtime in a future release) is provided for informational, reflective, and motivational purposes only. It may not always be accurate, complete, or applicable to your specific situation. You should use your own judgment when reading and acting on AI-generated content.

Content safeguards

All AI-generated content displayed in the App is clearly identified as such. Today, content safety is enforced by editorial review of the pre-generated seed-story library before each release. When runtime AI generation features ship in a future Arc release, we will additionally implement automated content filtering and moderation systems on runtime AI outputs before they are displayed to you, to prevent inappropriate, harmful, explicit, or misleading content. If you encounter content that you believe is inappropriate, you can report it through the App or by emailing support@meetarc.app.

Not professional advice

AI-generated content does not constitute medical, psychological, therapeutic, financial, or legal advice. Arc is a wellness and personal growth tool, not a healthcare or therapy service. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or call your local emergency services.

Data usage for AI features

Today, because AI generation happens at build time and the App selects pre-generated stories locally, your personal data is not sent to Anthropic during normal app use. When runtime AI generation features ship in a future Arc release, and you ask Arc to generate a story at request time, the goal text you wrote in onboarding and your life-phase context will be sent to Anthropic, our AI provider, alongside an anonymized account identifier. Your name, email, Apple ID, date of birth, and any future journal entries will never be sent. When that runtime feature ships, you will be able to opt out of AI features at any time in the App's Settings. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

User content and intellectual property

You retain ownership of all content you create within Arc, including journal entries, reflections, and goals. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you (for example, generating personalized AI content based on your anonymized data).

When you choose to share a letter generated by the Future Self Letter tool, the shared content becomes accessible to anyone with the link for up to 30 days. You are responsible for the content you share. Arc does not review or moderate shared letters and is not responsible for any content shared via public links. Shared letters may be removed at our discretion if they violate these Terms.

All other content, design, branding, trademarks, and technology comprising the Service are owned by Arc and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service without our written permission.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to: violate any applicable law or regulation; harass, abuse, or harm others; distribute malware or attempt to compromise the security of the Service; impersonate any person or entity; use the Service for any purpose other than personal, non-commercial use; or attempt to circumvent content moderation safeguards.

In addition, you agree not to:

  • Programmatically scrape, mirror, or republish stories generated for you.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the prompts, models, or systems Arc uses to generate stories.
  • Share your account credentials, including by transferring or selling access to your subscription.
  • Use Arc to generate content intended for resale or commercial publication without our express written permission.

Violation may result in temporary or permanent suspension of your account, at our reasonable discretion, with notice where practicable. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms.

Third-party services

The Service integrates with third-party services including Apple (App Store, Sign in with Apple, In-App Purchases), Anthropic (AI content generation), Stripe (website payments), Resend (email), and Cloudflare (hosting). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.

Apple App Store terms

If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge and agree that: these Terms are between you and Arc, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App; in the event of any failure of the App to conform to applicable warranties, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) to you, and Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App; Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product liability claims, any claim that the App fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, or claims arising under consumer protection laws; in the event of any third-party claim that the App infringes a third party's intellectual property rights, Arc (not Apple) will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of such claim; and Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that defects will be corrected. We do not guarantee the accuracy or reliability of any AI-generated content.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Arc and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Arc and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, upon notice to you. You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it through the App or by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately, but sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.

Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association in accordance with its Consumer Arbitration Rules, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction. You agree to resolve disputes on an individual basis and waive any right to a class action.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on our Website and in the App, and by updating the "Last updated" date above. For significant changes, we will also notify you by email or through an in-app notice at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
