Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 1, 2026

Introduction

Arc ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Arc personal growth application for iOS and the website at meetarc.app (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and your choices regarding your data. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

If you have questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@meetarc.app.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an Arc account, we collect your name, email address, and any profile details you choose to provide (such as goals or interests). If you sign in with Apple, we receive only the information you authorize Apple to share.

Journal entries and reflections

Journal entries you write in Arc are encrypted and stored on your device. We do not have access to the plaintext content of your journal entries. Only anonymized, non-identifiable summaries may be sent to our AI provider to generate personalized content (see "AI-powered features" below).

Usage data

We collect anonymized usage data such as feature interactions, session duration, and app performance metrics. This data does not identify you personally and is used to improve the Service.

Waitlist and website data

If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address and signup source. If you use the Future Self Letter tool on our website, your first name, goal, and optional life context are processed in real time to generate your letter and are not stored in any database.

Purchase and subscription data

If you subscribe to Arc through the Apple App Store, Apple processes your payment. We receive a transaction confirmation but do not receive or store your payment card details, Apple ID password, or billing address. For website purchases processed by Stripe, Stripe handles your payment data under its own privacy policy.

Device information

We may collect device type, operating system version, language setting, and a randomly generated device identifier for crash reporting and support purposes.

AI-powered features and third-party AI disclosure

Arc uses artificial intelligence to generate personalized future-self narratives, growth reflections, and goal-tracking insights. Our AI features are powered by Anthropic's language model API (a third-party AI service).

What data is shared with AI

When you use AI-powered features, we send anonymized summaries of your goals, progress, and reflection themes to Anthropic to generate personalized content. We do not send your full journal entries, real name, email address, or other directly identifying information to the AI provider.

Your consent

Before your data is processed by any third-party AI service, you will be clearly informed and asked for explicit consent within the app. You can withdraw this consent at any time in the app's Settings, which will disable AI-powered personalization features.

AI content safeguards

We implement content filtering and moderation on all AI-generated outputs to prevent inappropriate, harmful, or explicit content. AI-generated content is reviewed through automated safety filters before being displayed to you. All AI outputs are clearly labeled as AI-generated.

How the AI provider handles your data

Anthropic processes data sent through its API in real time and does not use API inputs or outputs to train its models. For details, refer to Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Generate personalized AI content based on your goals and progress
  • Process transactions and manage your subscription
  • Send you service-related communications (account verification, security alerts, subscription confirmations)
  • Send you optional marketing emails (launch updates, growth prompts) that you can unsubscribe from at any time
  • Analyze anonymized usage patterns to improve the Service
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

Third-party services

We share data with the following third-party service providers, solely for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Apple — App Store distribution, in-app purchase and subscription processing, and Sign in with Apple authentication
  • Anthropic — AI content generation (anonymized data processed via API, not stored or used for model training)
  • Resend — Transactional and marketing email delivery
  • Stripe — Payment processing for website purchases
  • Cloudflare — Website hosting, CDN, and privacy-first web analytics (no cookies or fingerprinting)

Each third-party provider processes your data according to their own privacy policy. We require all providers to handle your data securely and only for the specified purposes.

Data storage and security

Journal entries are encrypted and stored locally on your device. Account data and anonymized usage data are stored on servers in the United States, protected by industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). We follow security best practices to protect your information, but no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it (for example, transaction records for tax compliance). Anonymized, aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.

Your rights and choices

Account deletion

You can delete your account and all associated personal data at any time from within the Arc app by going to Settings > Account > Delete Account. You may also request account deletion by emailing privacy@meetarc.app. If you have an active subscription, please note that deleting your account does not automatically cancel your subscription. You must cancel your subscription through your Apple ID settings (Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions) to stop future billing.

Data access and portability

You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you by emailing privacy@meetarc.app. We will respond within 30 days.

Data correction

You can update your profile information directly in the app at any time, or contact us to correct inaccurate data.

Marketing opt-out

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link at the bottom of any email we send, or by adjusting your notification preferences in the app.

AI consent withdrawal

You can disable AI-powered features at any time in the app's Settings. This will stop all data sharing with our third-party AI provider.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion of your data, to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise your rights, email privacy@meetarc.app.

European residents (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and to object to processing. Our legal basis for processing your data is your consent (which you may withdraw at any time) and the performance of our contract with you. To exercise your rights, email privacy@meetarc.app.

Children's privacy

Arc is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@meetarc.app and we will promptly delete such information.

Analytics and tracking

We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising trackers. Website analytics are provided by Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first and does not use cookies, fingerprinting, or cross-site tracking. In the iOS app, we use Apple's built-in analytics framework for crash reporting and basic usage metrics, which respects your device's privacy settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the app and on our website, and updating the "Last updated" date above. For significant changes, we will also notify you by email or through an in-app notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
